For the first few months of our arrival in New York, we used to stay in a studio apartment located in Thornwood, an area very close to my office.
As we were new, we didn’t have any friend circle then, so there wasn’t much of social life. But fortunately there was one beautiful park within half mile distance from my house…called ’Leitas Pond Park’. So almost every other day we used to take Aayush there & he used to enjoyed it a lot.
We have very fond memories of Aayush’s early days with that Park & attached are the few videos from the same.

Wow—-I grew up in Thornwood and went to this park hundreds of times in my lifetime.
Until today I thought the name of the pond was “Leiths Pond”. How ironic is is that I spent over 25 years going there no knowing the correct name of the park!
Thanks for sharing your experience on how the park helped your transition into your new neighborhood.
I remember being a little girl and feeding the ducks, playing in the huge sandbox with the indian tee-pee in the middle (I don’t think it’s there anymore), ice-skating in the winter, jumping rocks underneath the ‘waterfall’ and then playing softball as I got older.
I hope your baby will retain as many precious memories of that place as I do.
Thank you,
Eileen
